How to Play the Connections Game

The rules in 30 seconds

1. You see 16 emojis in a 4×4 grid.
2. There are exactly 4 hidden groups of 4 — each group shares a connection (a theme, a category, a pun).
3. Tap four emojis you think belong together. If they're a group, the set clears and its connection is revealed.
4. Clear all four groups to win. Make 4 mistakes and the game is over.
5. One hint per game highlights a correct emoji from an unfound group.

Tips

• Scan for the most specific category first — generic themes overlap more.
• If a set of four feels obvious instantly, suspect a trap (especially on hard).
• Count emoji slots: if two candidate groups share an emoji, solve the group that has no alternative home.
• Use the timer to race yourself; use the leaderboard to race others.

Difficulties

Easy: obvious connections. Medium: thematic. Hard: deliberate overlaps. New daily puzzle every day, or play unlimited.
